The Newport Pioneer Days parade was held on Sunday, August 10, 2014.

This program teaches individuals how to be safe around dogs, how to tell the difference between a stray dog and a pet, and how dogs communicate their needs and feelings. At the end of the program, children are invited to read to Jazmin, the registered therapy dog.

The Summer Rec program for Newport youth goes on from June to August. The activities are held at Pioneer Park. Preschool children, ages 3 to 6, meet from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30a.m. School-age children, ages 7 to 14, meet from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you would like to enroll your child(ren) in the Summer Rec program, you may stop by City Hall, or download an application form from the City’s website at www.ci.newport.mn.us.
